The American Transplant Congress (ATC), which takes place June 4-8, is the Joint Annual Meeting of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST).
ATC brings together transplant physicians, researchers, nurses, organ procurement personnel, pharmacists, and other transplant professionals for a forum to exchange of new scientific and clinical information relevant to solid organ and tissue transplantation. The educational offerings provide attendees the opportunity to learn cutting-edge advances in research and clinical practice, as well as to discuss socioeconomic, ethical, and regulatory issues related to solid organ and tissue transplantation.
Researchers from Baylor Scott & White Health, including Baylor University Medical Center – Dallas, will be heavily involved in this year's event with more than three dozen talks and presentations scheduled here: Baylor Scott & White presentation schedule.

Abstract/Study Purpose: Donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors are underutilized in liver transplantation (LT), partly due to fear of inferior outcomes. Our center has evolved from a low- to high-DCD liver utilization program. We hypothesized that there would be a difference in donor and recipient characteristics as well as recipient outcomes between high and low DCD utilization eras.

Abstract/Study Purpose: Uterus transplantation (UTx) is the most commonly performed vascular composite allograft and is rapidly becoming an accepted treatment for absolute uterine-factor infertility (AUFI). There is little known of how ABO/HLA -donor/recipient compatibility affects UTx transplant outcome. This study aimed to assess the importance of ABO/HLA-donor/recipient compatibility in relation to rejection, graft survival and live birth rate.

Abstract/Study Purpose: Clinical trials have demonstrated the feasibility and reproducibility of uterus transplantation (UTx) to treat absolute uterine factor infertility. Successful live births have resulted from both deceased and living donor uterus transplantation, with more successful recipient pregnancies after living uterus donation. The utilization of living uterus donors for this quality of life-enhancing transplantation remain controversial because of the risks that living uterus donation entails. This study aimed to assess the perceptions of living uterus donors regarding their motivations for donation, perceptions of informed consent, and the value of the uterus donation experience.

Abstract/Study Purpose: Living donor (LD) hysterectomy for Uterus Transplantation (UTx) can be performed robotically with vaginal extraction of the graft. There are no reports of the technical or functional outcomes of robotically procured grafts (RPG). This study reports outcomes from the largest series of UTx performed with RPG.

Abstract/Study Purpose: UNOS/OPTN transitioned to Acuity Circles allocation for kidneys and livers which has increased the complexity of the network of organ procurement organizations (OPOs) and transplant centers. Moreover, there is increased pressure on OPOs to allocate organs. In this study, we hypothesized that allocation changes and regulatory pressure have increased organ offers and program workload.
