THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is proud to announce it has received the Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Silver Award from TMF® Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas. Hospitals are recognized for performing quality initiatives aimed at improving outcomes in patient care and consistently improving their performance on specific national quality measures.
The award acknowledges THE HEART HOSPITAL for improving care related to acute myocardial infarction or AMI (heart attack), heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. These clinical areas have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission, an independent non-profit, standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
“At THE HEART HOSPITAL we continue to build a foundation on quality and medical excellence,” says Mark Valentine, president, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano. “Receiving this recognition reaffirms our commitment to positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes while continuing to provide safe, quality, compassionate care.”
The hospital is one of only 118 hospitals in the state earning a Silver Award. To earn the Silver Award, a hospital had to achieve or maintain performance between 90 and 100 percent on the Appropriate Care Measure consisting of quality indicators including AMI, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care measures. Data was collected on quality indicators for four rolling quarters beginning October 1, 2010.
“As a nonprofit consulting company focused on promoting quality health and health care, TMF is proud to recognize these hospitals for promoting quality improvement activities and their senior management for promoting a quality culture,” said Tom Manley, CEO of TMF Health Quality Institute. “Quality improvement is a complex and demanding process and we thank THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano for their commitment to improving the health of Texans and the efficiency of health care in our state.”
THE HEART HOSPITAL was honored at The Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award Celebration held on May 3rd at the Texas Performing Arts’ Bass Concert Hall in Austin.
The hospital has received numerous awards and recognition for its medical innovations and quality in patient care including five-time Press Ganey® Summit Award® acknowledgement for Inpatient and Emergency Department satisfaction, The Joint Commission’s Top Performer in Key Quality Measures, Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for Advanced Heart Failure, Aetna Institute of Quality for Cardiovascular Care, The Joint Commission’s Certification for Ventricular Assist Device and Becker’s Hospital Review’s ‘Top 50 Hospitals with the Best Patient Ratings’ for quality.
