Baylor Scott & White – Irving Re-designated With Magnet® Recognition

Designation focuses on excellence in nursing services

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving celebrates its achievement of being recognized as a Magnet® designated organization again.  The medical center first received Magnet status in December 2013.

The Magnet® designation for excellence in nursing services is given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®.

Magnet designation is one of the highest levels of recognition a hospital can achieve. For patients, this designation means that their care is provided by a nursing staff that ranks in the top seven percent of hospitals in the country.

According to the ANCC, Magnet designation is the gold standard of patient care. Baylor Scott & White Irving joins the ranks of some of the nation's prestigious healthcare organizations including Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mayo Clinic and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

"This designation places us in a select group of hospitals across the country and is a true testament of our continued achievement of excellence. We are gratified to have earned this recognition for a second time," said Becky Hunter, chief nursing officer at Baylor Scott & White – Irving. "Pursuing the Magnet designation demonstrates our commitment of quality, support of nurses, and pursuit for better patient outcomes."

The Magnet recognition program recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing practice and adherence to national standards for the organization and delivery of nursing services. Applicants undergo a rigorous evaluation that includes extensive interviews and review of nursing services.
