Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest Redesignated as Level II Trauma Center

WACO, Texas – The trauma center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest continues to serve the community as a Level II Major Trauma Facility as designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services and verified by the American College of Surgeons. This achievement recognizes the trauma center's dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.

Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest provides the highest level of trauma care in the Waco area as the region's only adult Level II trauma center. It is one of only 26 hospitals in Texas to earn a Level II trauma designation.

"Without question, this is a reflection of our team's collaborative effort and dedication to providing high-quality care for our patients," said Bill Morgan, MD, medical director of trauma services at Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest. "We're proud of our commitment to the community by providing these vital resources close to home."

To achieve this designation, the trauma center had to demonstrate it provides the hospital resources necessary for trauma care, as well as the entire spectrum of care to address the needs of all injured patients. This spectrum encompasses the prehospital phase through the rehabilitation process.

"I am extremely thankful for our trauma team and the comprehensive services they provide for Central Texans," said Charles Williams, president of Baylor Scott & White – Hillcrest. "From saving the lives of individual trauma victims to gaining national attention for expertly handling disasters, our team surpasses expectations. I'm proud of this verification, which validates their readiness to provide optimal care, but it's no surprise given how they've proven their worthiness time and time again over the past 26 years."

As a health system, 16 Baylor Scott & White hospitals have a trauma designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services. For more information, visit: trauma care at Baylor Scott & White Health.
