DALLAS, TX – As part of its dedication to innovation in cancer care, Baylor Scott & White Health is pleased to present the Charlotte Johnson Barrett 2019 Lectureship on Friday, Nov. 15, featuring Ronan Kelly, MBBCh, MD, MBA, chief of oncology for the organization's North Texas medical centers and Juliet King, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, LMHC, one of the foremost experts in art therapy.
The event will be at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Dallas, Hunt Auditorium, 10th floor 3410 Worth St., Dallas, TX 75246, from 10 a.m.- noon. The free lecture is open to the public and will highlight cutting-edge therapies and holistic patient programs aimed at advancing wellness.
Dr. Kelly will lead off the lectureship with recent advances in precision medicine and immunotherapeutics offered by Baylor Scott & White.

Local residents will have an opportunity to learn about wellness techniques such as art therapy from King, an associate professor of art therapy at George Washington University and adjunct associate professor in the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurology. Through her lecture, "A Revitalized Synthesis: Art Therapy and Neuroscience," guests will have a greater understanding of how science underscores art therapy theory and how the practice can be neurotherapeutic. Art therapy is a comprehensive service offered to patients through the Arts in Medicine program at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center. About Dr. Ronan Kelly
Ronan Kelly, MBBCh, MD, MBA, is chief of oncology for the organization's North Texas medical centers and the medical director of Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center – Dallas, located at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Kelly earned a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a master's in business administration from University College Dublin. He served his oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Kelly was recently appointed clinical professor of Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and remains an adjunct associate professor of oncology at Johns Hopkins. He serves as the co-chair of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) taskforce working to improve the quality of care received by lung cancer patients worldwide. He has authored and co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and book chapters, and contributed his work to many prominent healthcare journals.
About Juliet L. King
Juliet L. King, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, LMHC, is an Associate Professor of Art Therapy at The George Washington University and Adjunct Associate Professor in the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurology. Prior to these appointments, she has spent near 20 years as a clinician, educator and administrator. Professor King developed the inaugural graduate art therapy program at the Herron School of Art and Design and in this capacity spearheaded the development of over 30 internship programs in the Indianapolis community and surrounding areas. Ms. King also implemented and currently oversees the first specialized Art Therapy clinical, education and research program in Neuroscience and Medicine at the Indiana University Neuroscience Center. Professor King is pursuing doctoral studies in Translational Health Sciences, and her research includes exploring the interface of art, neuroscience and related therapeutics with a focus on the use of contemporary neuroimaging to capture brain activity in real-world environments.
