The Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center has been named by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence®. The ASMBS Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
To earn a Center of Excellence designation, the Weight Loss Surgery Center underwent a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program's surgical processes (including a patient’s care before, during and after surgery) were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected.
“Obesity is a significant national health issue and is associated with serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure,” said Sina Matin, M.D., surgeon and medical director of the Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center. “The Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center’s designation as a Center of Excellence attests to the commitment of our multidisciplinary team to helping patients manage these conditions and achieve their weight loss goals.”
The Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center offers effective weight loss solutions through a comprehensive surgical program for qualified patients. Laparoscopic/robotic procedures include Roux-en-y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy and revisions. The Center provides patients with lifetime support and offers an array of comprehensive services including nutritional and psychological counseling, insurance verification and support groups.
