Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe Announces New President

Executive brings 25 years healthcare strategic planning and management experience

Donas H. Cole is the new president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe, a 112-bed acute-care hospital.

Baylor Scott & White– Lake Pointe is undergoing a major expansion. Construction includes a new three-floor patient tower that will allow the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), well-baby nursery and postpartum department to be housed on the same floor. The new building will feature two 16-bed medical and surgical units, a new patient registration area, a new lobby, and a renovated kitchen and dining area. 

Cole most recently served as interim president at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Garland, which he joined in 2012 as a physician liaison. He has held several administrative positions during his tenure, including vice president of administration from 2014 to 2017.  

Prior to joining Baylor Scott & White, Cole was vice president of operations and co-ethics and compliance officer for Medical Center of McKinney, an HCA facility. He also was an administrative director of the Wysong Campus (Rehab and Behavioral Health), and held roles in physician support, clinical systems and operations.

Cole started his career in 1989 with National Medical Enterprise and Psychiatric Institutes of America where he served in various roles. He has received numerous accolades, including Community Hero and Employee of the Year awards.

Cole holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Texas A&M - Commerce.

Cole will oversee a hospital that already offers many medical specialties and services, including a fast-track emergency department, intensive care unit, women's services, Level II and Level III NICU, interventional cardiology, diagnostic imaging, robotic-assisted surgery, orthopedics, vascular surgery, neurosurgery and urology. The hospital also is designated a Level III Trauma center.
