Baylor Scott & White Health Opens Pflugerville’s First Hospital, Expands Care Delivery in Travis County

Largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Texas opens new medical center to serve one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities

Baylor Scott & White Health today opened its newest medical center, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville, the system's first hospital constructed in Travis County. The new medical center, at 2600 E. Pflugerville Pkwy, Suite 100, Pflugerville, TX 78660, now offers inpatient hospital services. Baylor Scott & White Health has also opened primary care and specialty care clinics to serve local patients.

"By opening our doors in Pflugerville today, we're fulfilling our commitment to this community and to Central Texans to improve access to comprehensive health care services," said Jay Fox, president, Baylor Scott & White Health – Austin Round Rock Region. "We look forward to delivering quality care and service to residents, right here in their neighborhood."

Created with health and wellness in mind, the facility serves as a site for Baylor Scott & White Health programs and initiatives focused on healthy living, including health and wellness seminars and nutrition classes. Specialties at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Pflugerville and Baylor Scott & White Clinic - Pflugerville include but are not limited to internal medicine, women's services, dermatology, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, pulmonology, podiatry, urology, general surgery, endocrinology, and gastroenterology. With an ability to add future services, the medical center and the clinic can meet the needs of Pflugerville as the city's population increases.

"Patients need accessible, convenient and coordinated care in order to stay healthy and engaged in their wellness," said Robin Watson, MD, chief medical officer, Baylor Scott & White Health - Austin/Round Rock Region. "Bringing a multitude of services to Pflugerville under one roof, and with physicians working as a team, is going to help this community get better and we're proud to be leading this change."

Through a multidisciplinary approach to care and a single electronic medical record, patients can receive greater care coordination, allowing hospital and clinic caregivers to work together seamlessly to prevent unnecessary medical tests, reduce wait times and improve the patient experience.

In 2019, Baylor Scott & White looks forward to opening medical centers in Buda and Austin. These future sites, along with Pflugerville, will complement existing medical centers in Round Rock, Lakeway, Taylor and Cedar Park, as well as more than 60 access points spanning a five-county area. Medical services within the area include more than 70 specialties with a provider base more than 400 strong.
