Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine is offering two Vascular Disease Screening events Saturday, January 8 and Saturday, January 29. The free screenings will be held at Baylor Grapevine with appointments available between 8 a.m. and noon.
The Vascular Disease Screening includes four components: ankle brachial index screening for lower extremity arterial disease (PAD); limited carotid ultrasound screening for carotid artery disease; ultrasound screening of the aorta for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA); and blood pressure screening. All screenings are minimally invasive and take approximately 45 minutes in total to complete.
Dr. Richard Wilkerson, a board-certified vascular surgeon on the medical staff at Baylor Grapevine, also will be available for consultation on participants’ preliminary screening results. Participants receive a copy of their final results by mail.
"Undetected vascular disease can cause serious conditions, including stroke and aortic aneurysms," said Dr. Wilkerson. "In most cases, early detection allows us to treat vascular disease more effectively, so it important to know your risk."
There is no charge to attend the event, but registration is required as appointment times are limited. To schedule a vascular screening or for more information, call 1.800.4BAYLOR or visit BaylorHealth.com/GrapevineHeart.
