Emmy award-winning actor and advocate in the fight against cancer, Eric Stonestreet, will be the featured guest at the 19th annual Baylor Health Care System Foundation Celebrating Women luncheon on Thursday, October 25, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas.
Stonestreet is best known for portraying Cameron Tucker in the ABC mockumentary sitcom Modern Family. This career-defining role has led to more than 20 award nominations for his performance in the series, including receiving two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
He knew that as the popularity of Modern Family grew, so would the opportunity to share his voice and support in the fight against cancer, a cause that has touched his life in various ways over the years.
"My grandmother survived cancer three times. Both of my grandfathers and my favorite uncle lost their battles against the disease. Cancer has been all too close to my loved ones and was especially close when my mom was diagnosed, not once, but twice," said Stonestreet.
"With support of family, friends and others, my mom beat cancer twice, but it takes a community to fight this disease. I look forward to joining the fight against breast cancer with the North Texas community committed to Celebrating Women. Let's fight it together."
Since the first Celebrating Women luncheon in 2000, nearly $31 million has been raised to help Baylor Scott & White Health fight breast cancer in North Texas. Each year, approximately 1,300 passionate men and women attend the Celebrating Women luncheon in a show of support for Baylor's efforts to fight the disease in our community.
Tom Thumb and Albertsons will serve as presenting sponsor for the 14th consecutive year, and the 2018 luncheon will be chaired by Pat McEvoy and Michal Powell with Shelle Sills serving as underwriting chairman. Linda Carter and Christi Carter Urschel will serve as this year's honorary chairmen and Karla McKinley will be honored with the Lindalyn B. Adams award.
As the featured guest at this year's Celebrating Women luncheon, Stonestreet will share his role in the fight against breast cancer and personal insights to his life and career. Stonestreet first rose to prominence in a recurring role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, as Ronnie Litre. Over the years, he has built an impressive resume of memorable characters on television shows including Dharma & Greg, Malcolm in the Middle, Party of Five, Spin City, ER, The West Wing, Crossing Jordan, and Bones. Additionally, he guest-starred on FX's hit series American Horror Story and co-starred in the HBO television movie, Confirmation.
Recently, Stonestreet lent his voice for Universal's The Secret Life of Pets, and he will reprise that role in The Secret Life of Pets 2 out June 7, 2019. He made his film debut in Almost Famous and has appeared in the thriller, The Loft, and was a scene-stealer in the comedy, Identity Thief, and appeared in Girls Will Be Girls and Bad Teacher.
