Local High School Baseball Teams Open Season with Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine 2009 First Pitch Classic

Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine is excited to kick off the 2009 First Pitch Classic baseball tournament on Feb. 26-28. One of the largest baseball tournaments in Texas, the event kicks off the beginning of the season and showcases some of the state's top baseball talent. The tournament also honors the memory of Grapevine baseball player Chris Gavora who sustained fatal injuries on opening day in 2007.

"It is an honor and privilege for Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine to host the 2009 First Pitch Classic for the 13th consecutive year," said Doug Lawson, president. "Our focus on active partnerships with school programs and the community attests to our commitment of being the best place to give and receive care. We wish all of the teams the best of luck and hope that players, coaches and fans alike have a great time."

Participating high school teams include: Colleyville Heritage, Fort Worth Western Hills, Mansfield, Mesquite Poteet, Grapevine, Mansfield Legacy, Birdville, Amarillo Tascosa, Fossil Ridge, Saginaw, Coppell, Richland, Keller, Boswell, Waxahachie and El Paso Franklin. Tournament games will take place at Colleyville Heritage High School, Grapevine High School, Fossil Ridge High School and Keller High School.

Baylor Grapevine is serving as the title sponsor of the tournament for the 13thconsecutive year. It will provide trainer and medical coverage for players at all games sites as well as trophies and tournament t-shirts.
