The Baylor Health Care System Foundation announced today the appointment of Bill Lively as Senior Strategic Development Consultant. In this role, Lively will offer counsel in the development and implementation of a strategic long-term philanthropic plan for Baylor. Initially, he will offer strategic advice on fundraising efforts for Baylor's $350 million Cancer Center scheduled to open in 2011.
"Bill will provide objective, expert advice based on his experience with successful philanthropic activities and campaigns," says Rowland K. Robinson, president, Baylor Health Care System Foundation. "He will leverage his expertise and contacts to assist Baylor in our mission of becoming one of the nation's preeminent health care organizations. We are honored to have him as part of our team."
From 2000 through the end of 2008, Lively served as Founding President and CEO of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation during which he established the Foundation's campaign management infrastructure and systems designed to raise $350 million to help build the center. Under Lively's leadership, the campaign generated more than $334 million, including 129 gifts of $1 million and above, the most gifts at the million dollar threshold ever raised by any capital campaign to build cultural facilities in an American city.
At the beginning of 2009, Lively transitioned to become president and CEO of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee, chaired by Roger Staubach. Concurrently, he serves as President of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation's Endowment Trust.
"Bill Lively's experience during the eight years in which he formed and managed the campaign to build the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts and his quarter of a century service to SMU, including seven years as the University's Vice President for Development, make him uniquely qualified to advise the Baylor Health Care System Foundation as it develops its most ambitious and important philanthropic initiative to date," says Joel Allison, president and CEO, Baylor Health Care System.
Lively says he chose Baylor as his next project because of his profound appreciation of the impact Baylor will have on the delivery of high-quality healthcare services for the region.
"Strategic, high-dollar fundraising is the product of a noble organization guided by a long-term strategic plan, managed by competent staff and supported by a legion of dedicated volunteers. Under the leadership of Joel Allison and Rowland K. Robinson, Baylor has all of these things in place as it begins the next generation of its important service to Dallas and the region," adds Lively. "It's with this understanding that I am privileged to serve as an advisor to theBaylor Health Care System Foundation as it prepares to engage in the most dynamic fundraising experience in its history."
Baylor Health Care System Foundation, a separately incorporated not-for-profit organization, raises and manages charitable funds to support Baylor Health Care System's mission of exemplary health care, education, research and community service.
