THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano to Host Blood Drive

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano (THHBP), along with the American Red Cross, will host a critical need blood drive in the hospital's auditorium. THHBP is located at 1100 Allied Dr., two blocks east of Preston Road at Plano Parkway. 

Local residents can make an appointment to donate by going online at www.givelife.org or by contacting Jay deVenny at (469) 814-4771. Photo ID is required to donate, and all donors will receive a free American Red Cross T-Shirt. 

In addition to the blood drive, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is hosting other activities during February, National Heart Month. For more information, or to register for a program offered by THHBP, please call 1-800-4BAYLOR. 

  • Cardiac Calcium Scoring Screenings: Available throughout February, Monday - Friday, for $79. Cardiac calcium scoring uses a non-invasive test to check for the buildup of cholesterol on the walls of the arteries of the heart. This test is used for early detection of heart disease.
  • Community Screening Event: Saturday, February 16th, 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon. Free screenings: blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), cholesterol/glucose, ankle brachial index (ABI) to check for peripheral vascular disease, and spirometry (lung volume). Additional screenings include a cardiac calcium score screening ($79) and a carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) for $149. Attendees can also visit "Ask the Physician" and "Ask the Dietitian" tables.
