DALLAS, Texas – Scott & White Care Plans, a subsidiary of Scott and White Health Plan and part of Baylor Scott & White Health, is issuing nearly $7 million in rebates to more than 130 large groups in North and Central Texas who had employer-sponsored HMO plans in 2019.

The Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) rebates are the result of effective care coordination and disease management efforts.

"At Scott & White Care Plans, we are dedicated to delivering value and affordability," said Jeff Ingrum, president & CEO, Scott and White Health Plan. "We are committed to collaborating with our members to leverage our quality programs, efficiencies with our Baylor Scott & White Health integrated care delivery system, and effective medical and disease management programs to lower healthcare costs for our member groups and their employees."

Scott & White Care Plans members have access to the medical teams and facilities of the Baylor Scott & White Health system, which provides the full range of inpatient, outpatient, specialty, rehabilitation and emergency medical services. Beyond the Baylor Scott & White Health system, Scott & White Care Plans offers access to thousands of providers throughout Central and West Texas to give members plenty of in-network options for care.

Increased care coordination and savings opportunities in the future
Scott & White Care Plans anticipates even greater care coordination and savings opportunities in the year ahead.

Virtual care options for members are being expanded, and a single sign-on feature has been deployed for the MyBSWHealth app, which helps members to manage their family's healthcare needs. It's integrated with Scott and White Health Plan so healthcare and coverage information is all in one place.

Once signed in, Scott & White Care Plans members can access multiple aspects of their account and medical records through the MyBSWHealth app:

  • Find a provider and schedule an appointment
  • View the member ID card, get a benefits overview, and track deductible
  • Monitor claims and pay provider bills
  • Get test results and view past visit summaries
  • Manage and refill prescriptions at Baylor Scott & White pharmacies

This gives members information and options at their fingertips. "The goal is to blend care and coverage in a way that engages the member in their own care, gives them the tools and resources to be an active participant and improves their health in a measurable way," said Ingrum. "Lower costs are seemingly inevitable with this approach, and employers will share in those savings."
