Living for Zachary, a Plano-based 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to saving young lives from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), announces its inaugural gala event to promote awareness of undiagnosed heart complications in youth. Appropriately titled "HeartBeats Gala" the 2011 theme is "Bright Lights, Broadway Nights." Arrhythmia Management, a Plano electrophysiology physician practice, has signed on as the Signature Sponsor.
Patrons of this unique occasion will enjoy fine dining, live music, and dancing while raising funds for area high school student scholarships and much-needed, life-saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for local organizations and schools.
The black-tie event is slated for 7 p.m. to Midnight, Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the Marriott Plano at Legacy Town Center. Guests will enjoy live pre-event music by Goga and his band. Throughout the evening, guests may bid on an array of Silent Auction items ranging from autographed sports memorabilia to luxury getaways. Big Board offerings include a home theater package, custom clothing, exciting trips, and more. A gourmet dinner precedes the Live Auction consisting of luxurious vacations, beautiful jewelry, and much more prior to dancing to the music of Limelight (an Emerald City production).
Gala sponsorships or tickets can be purchased at www.living4zachary.org or by calling 214.514.0368.
Living for Zachary and THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano collaborated on the development of the "Living for Zachary Heart Screening" to help save young lives from SCA. Physicians on the medical staff at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano developed the components of the heart screening, which includes a blood pressure screen, electrocardiogram (EKG), and a 2D echocardiogram for youth ages 13-22. Physicians interpret the results of each screening and refer at-risk youth to pediatric cardiologists for further evaluation. While insurance does not cover this preventative screening, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano offers the Living for Zachary heart screening for only $100. Since its inception in 2009, the Living for Zachary Heart Screening has served 398 youth. Thirty-seven have been referred for further evaluation and treatment.
