The trauma center at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas has been re-verified as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This achievement recognizes the trauma center's dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients.
Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1987, the Consultation/Verification Program for Hospitals (completed by the Committee on Trauma) establishes that a hospital meets essential criteria, has the resources necessary for trauma care, and also can provide an entire spectrum of critical care services to address the needs of injured patients.
While the ACS’ Committee on Trauma ( COT) verification program does not designate trauma centers, its five category verification program confirms bi-annually that a trauma center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the highest quality trauma care for all injured patients.
