Baylor Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center Completes Successful Second Year

The Baylor Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, located on the campus of Baylor Medical Center at Garland, has completed its second year of operations with outstanding clinical results.

"We are proud of our wound healing rate and the quality of life differences our wound center has made for so many patients. The Baylor Wound Center has been a great addition to the patient care services available at Baylor Garland," says Jessica Shrader, R.N., clinical nurse manager at the center.

Since its opening in July 2006, the Baylor Wound Center has treated nearly 900 patients. The Center has healed more than 90 percent of all wounds treated, compared to the national average of 84 percent. More than 200 different physicians refer their patients to the wound center for specialized care.

Specially trained wound care physicians follow a proven clinical pathway to determine the reasons wounds are not healing on their own and implement a treatment plan crafted to the specific needs of each patient. The multi-disciplinary physician panel, including general and vascular surgeons, internists, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, and an infectious disease specialist, works collaboratively to address patient needs. The Baylor Wound Center also contributes to the education of medical residents through the Baylor Family Medicine Residency Program.

Baylor Medical Center at Garland, located in the heart of the Garland community, continues to grow and to reflect the medical needs of its residents. The hospital offers advanced medical technology in heart and vascular care, breast health, pain management, wound services, women’s services, neonatal intensive care, digestive disease, medical imaging, senior health care, and physical medicine and rehabilitation on its smoke-free campus. Baylor Garland serves the communities of Garland, Wylie, Richardson, Rowlett, Rockwall, Sachse, Mesquite and Murphy.
