The six-story patient tower features 72 new patient rooms with thoughtful design and integrated technology in each room to enhance the patient experience at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving.

IRVING, Texas – Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving recently completed the final phase of a $170 million renovation and new patient tower project.

The five-year expansion and renovation will help deliver better patient care closer to home to meet the growing healthcare demands of Irving and surrounding communities. The multistory patient tower is seamlessly integrated behind the existing campus buildings in the front area of the campus.

"Our new patient tower is taking high tech to new heights," said Cindy Schamp, president, Baylor Scott & White – Irving. "One of the things that was important, as we developed this new patient bed tower, was to incorporate new smart technology and innovation that will help sustain us well into the future, but most importantly offer a safe, quality patient experience."

The six-story patient tower features 72 new patient rooms with thoughtful design and integrated technology in each room to enhance the patient experience:

  • Designed to optimize staff workflow and open family space
  • Equipped with hospital bed technology for advanced patient safety and ease of care
  • Outfitted with a patient interaction system that empowers patient care for a smart digital experience
  • Integrated patient lift systems, and enhanced lighting and shade controls

"Our new patient tower leverages technology that defines patient-centric care," said John Yaft, MD, chief medical officer, Baylor Scott & White – Irving. "We have a relentless pursuit to strengthen the patient-physician connection and improve health outcomes by providing our patients with advanced technological resources.”

From the outside of Baylor Scott & White – Irving, passersby see a new facade and an ultramodern architectural glass atrium, deemed "the Point." A light-filled, open atrium accented with a specially designed illuminated halo light structure welcomes patients and visitors. "The patient is the point of everything we do at Baylor Scott & White – Irving and this new exterior reflects that focus," said Schamp.

Baylor Scott & White-Irving is nationally recognized for quality patient care, receiving a five-star rating on the latest Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings in May 2021, and received a “High Performing” rating by US News & World Report in COPD, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Kidney Failure and Pneumonia.
