BRENHAM, Texas – Baylor Scott & White Health continues making strategic investments in Brenham aimed at supporting the healthcare needs of individuals and families across Washington, Fayette, Austin and Lee counties. As a not-for-profit organization with no shareholders, Baylor Scott & White reinvests surpluses in the communities it serves.
Expanding Access to Care Close to Home
As part of its ongoing investment in Brenham, Baylor Scott & White has added new specialists and expanded several key services, allowing more patients to stay close to home for care.
Recent additions include:
- Full-time cardiology services with diagnostic capabilities such as stress testing and other heart evaluations
- Expansion of surgical services, including orthopedic surgery, podiatry and urology
- Expanded ophthalmology relationships, including local access to eye surgeries
- Enhanced hospital medicine and emergency medicine coverage, increasing local capacity for inpatient and emergency care
- Growth in infusion therapy, pain management, and other therapy services, broadening support for a range of patient needs
"By expanding specialty services and strengthening key areas of the hospital, we're helping more patients receive the care they need — right here, where they live, work and raise their families," said Jason Jennings, president, Baylor Scott & White – College Station Region. "These investments reflect our continued commitment to provide high-quality care close to home for Brenham and the surrounding communities."
Supporting Growing Families
A central focus of the region's growth strategy is strengthening care for mothers, infants and children. With a dedicated team of OB/GYN physicians, family medicine physicians specially trained to perform obstetric care, and supported by advanced practice professionals, Baylor Scott & White is continuing to invest in labor and delivery services and family-centered care models.
"It is my passion and my goal to provide the best healthcare experience for every stage of growing a family," said Eric Alford, MD, chief medical officer of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham. "As a father, a family medicine physician, and someone who lives and works in Brenham and grew up nearby, I understand how important this is to our community."
A New Clinic Location Focused on the Future
Baylor Scott & White is also in the early planning stages of a future home for expanded clinic-based care in Brenham. The new site will increase clinic capacity, add imaging services and create space for additional specialties over time.
The site's location off Highway 290 and its proximity to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham will help support more seamless, coordinated care.
A groundbreaking is expected for the fall of 2026, with construction completed by summer 2028.
"This planned clinic is more than a new building — it's a vision for what accessible healthcare should be in Washington County," said Jennings. "This site will give us the space to grow alongside the community, bringing more specialties, expanded services and greater convenience to families."
A Long-Term Commitment to Brenham
Baylor Scott & White's ongoing investments reflect a long‑term commitment to meeting the needs of patients across Brenham and the surrounding region. From expanding specialty services to planning a future clinic designed for growth, each initiative is grounded in the goal of making quality, compassionate care more accessible for every person who calls the community home. As Brenham continues to grow, Baylor Scott & White remains focused on delivering patient‑centered care that is close, convenient and connected.
"By growing our local healthcare services, we're empowering our community to live healthier, fuller lives," said Dr. Alford. "Our goal is simple: deliver the care people need, right here at home."
"Our patients are at the center of every decision we make," said Jennings. "We are investing in Brenham so families can get the care they need in the community they love, supported by a team that knows them and is committed to their long‑term health."
