DALLAS, Texas – Baylor Scott & White Health today announced its CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ reaccreditation.
To earn Gold Standard accreditation, an employer must take concrete actions to reduce the risk and burden of cancer, including prohibiting tobacco use and supporting tobacco cessation efforts; promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition and weight management; providing health insurance options that include detecting cancer at its earliest stages; offering access to quality care and participation in cancer clinical trials; promoting employee awareness of these initiatives; and supporting the needs of cancer survivors in the workplace.
Baylor Scott & White earned its reaccreditation from CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ by maintaining a strong commitment to the health of its employees and satisfying the latest, comprehensive requirements of the Gold Standard.
"Our employees' health and well-being is critical in providing quality care in the communities we serve,” said Leia Spoor, director, health and wellness, Baylor Scott & White. “We continue our commitment to take intentional steps to reduce the risk of cancer in the workplace by keeping our employees informed of their own health risks and providing appropriate resources and programs to prevent or reduce those risks."
As part of its health and wellness efforts, Baylor Scott & White uses tools to create individualized paths for employees to become healthier. Employees can complete a wellness assessment, input personal goals attend informational events that provide resources and enroll in the Baylor Scott & White wellness program for assistance with lifestyle changes. In addition, employees graduating from a Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance case management or disease management program are transferred to the Baylor Scott & White wellness program for any ongoing lifestyle support.
The CEO Roundtable on Cancer, a not-for-profit organization of CEOs founded by former President George H.W. Bush, created the Gold Standard to recognize employers for taking exceptional health and wellness measures on behalf of their employees.
