Baylor Scott & White Health today announced plans to open a new 35,000 square-foot integrated heart hospital on the campus of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney in March 2019. The Heart Hospital Baylor McKinney expects to serve cardiovascular patients across north Collin and Grayson counties as well as Oklahoma. Construction on the new $30 million facility will begin by January 31 with a planned opening in March 2019.
The Heart Hospital Baylor McKinney will replicate the high-quality care model established by The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano which opened in 2007 and is currently ranked #16 nationally for Cardiology & Heart Surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
"Demand for cardiovascular services continues to grow," said Mark A. Valentine, president, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton. "Just as we have done in Plano and Denton, we expect The Heart Hospital Baylor McKinney to provide a quality continuum of care and five-star guest experience."
The facility, dedicated to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, will include an outpatient nursing unit and four procedure rooms offering electrophysiological and catheterization services as well as non-invasive cardiovascular services. Additional shell space is also being included for future growth and expansion. It is anticipated that approximately 60 employees will staff the new heart hospital.
Since December 2012, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano has operated an outpatient center, the Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Care (CACC) McKinney, on the Baylor Scott & White - McKinney campus. CACC offers outpatient imaging services to help physicians diagnose and treat heart and vascular conditions. While the new hospital will expand cardiovascular services offered in McKinney, the CACC care team will remain.
