Baylor Regional Medical Center At Plano Donates $3,000 To Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center

Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano President, Jerri Garison recently presented a representative of the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center with a $3,000 donation to support the Center's efforts to provide safety, healing, and justice to children of Collin County victimized by abuse or neglect. On hand to receive the donation on behalf of the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center was Melanie Carroll, vice president of development.

"The Collin County Children's Advocacy Center plays an important role in promoting healing in the lives of children and their families victimized by abuse. Baylor Plano is pleased to support an organization that is impacting the future generations of our community," said Jerri Garison, president, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.

Over the past few years, Collin County has seen tremendous growth in the child population, from 113,245 in 2000 to 205,478 in 2009, an increase of 81%. While the population has increased by 81%, the number of confirmed victims of child abuse has increased by 152%. The Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County is committed to offering 100% of those victims with free services such as forensic interviews, sexual assault exams, and therapy as well as food and clothing to help them heal.

Funds raised from Gala 2011 will help partners of the Collin County Children's Advocacy Center in fulfilling their mission to assist children victimized by abuse. Receiving less than 10% of their funding from government sources, the Center relies heavily on donations from the community to provide the needed services to the children of Collin County.
