Baylor Plano Appoints New Members to Hospital Board

Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano is proud to announce the addition of Charles Toulson, M.D., orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano Joint Replacement Center, and Jennifer Zimmer, M.D., FACP, internal medicine physician and medical director of medical education at Baylor Plano, to the Hospital Board of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.

Dr. Toulson brings years of experience in the area of joint replacement and has authored many scientific articles related to orthopaedic surgery and hematology. He is the recipient of many honors, including the Knee Society Grant Award and the Distinguished Medical Scholar Award of the University of North Carolina. Dr. Toulson attended medical school at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and graduated with honors. He went on to perform his General Surgery Internship and Orthopedic Surgery Residency at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He then proceeded to the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York where he performed a fellowship in Hip and Knee Reconstruction.

Dr. Zimmer practices internal medicine at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano and has focused her career on quality improvement in health care. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Zimmer was an intern in medicine at Beth Israel Hospital and resident at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, both teaching affiliates of Harvard Medical School in Boston. After completing her residency, she joined the teaching faculty at Harvard Medical School until relocating to Texas in 2004. Dr. Zimmer also received a graduate certificate in Advanced Leadership for Physicians from Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business and serves on a number of quality and service excellence committees across Baylor Health Care System. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
