Baylor Frisco Undergoing Emergency Department Expansion

Baylor Medical Center at Frisco is pleased to announce the opening of its newly expanded emergency department (ED).  The expanded facility, scheduled to open in August 2013, will more than triple the emergency department's footprint with a total of 9,031 square feet. It will be located on the east side of the main hospital campus.

The number one goal in emergency medicine is reducing "door-to-doc" time, or how long it takes on average to see a physician after walking in the door.

“We’re expanding to meet the growing demand for emergent care in Frisco,” said William Keaton, CEO of Baylor Frisco. “As Frisco remains one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation, keeping our low "door-to-doc “ time is a priority we take very seriously.”

The expanded ED will replace Baylor Frisco’s previously separate Urgent Care and Emergency facilities, and will include improved triage and board-certified physicians on the medical staff available 24-7. Baylor Frisco will continue to operate its Urgent Care Center – Sports Village, located inside FieldhouseUSA at 6155 Sports Village Road in Frisco.

"One of the main issues many EDs have struggled with is follow-up with patients after they are discharged,” said Keaton. “When patients visit our new ED, a referral coordinator will be assigned to help provide the appropriate care, even after the patient has returned home. Our trained staff will make your appointment with the right specialists and provide resources to provide patients the full continuum of care.”

This is the first update of the Baylor Frisco ED since the facility opened in 2002. Since that time, Frisco’s population has nearly tripled, growing by more than 85,500. The staff also serves residents from Plano, Allen, Little Elm, Prosper and many newer communities south of Hwy 380.
