1977 - The Hunt Heart Center opens

In response to advancing technology and an increased cardiac patient population, a Baylor task force began planning in 1974 for the future of Baylor's cardiac treatment program. This task force of physicians and administrators proposed that a separate center be established for heart patients. A large gift from Hunt Oil Company and the H.L. Hunt family made a new specialty center possible. The Hunt Heart Center opened in 1977.
