It was fun to see that, as someone who was born in Temple in the early fifties…to see King's daughters coming back into Scott & White.

Seeing the fact that the children didn't have to leave Temple to go to Fort Worth Dallas or Houston was really nice because that's a long trip for parents when they have other children at home and they have a child who's critically ill.

That was such a burden, and now they can stay close to home.” – Robert Pryor, M.D., president & chief executive officer, Baylor Scott & White Health (2011-2016) speaking on the addition of what is now McLane Children’s Hospital

“Diversity within our healthcare team is so important. It makes us stronger as a team and helps us build trust with the patients we serve. When trust is high, we are better able to help each patient achieve their goals for wellness or walk difficult journeys of illness. In short, diversity within our teams helps each of us a better version of ourselves.” – Tresa McNeal, M.D., interim chair, Department of Medicine, Baylor Scott & White – Central Texas speaking on diversity of present day BSW

“When I started here, McLane Children’s was a hospital within a hospital and a pediatric ambulatory clinic down ‘The Hill’. Now, we are a freestanding facility – the only one between Dallas and Austin. We have several clinics, not only in Central Texas, but in the surrounding areas as well. It is great that we are able to take care of children and families close to home.” – Dell Ingram-Walker, vice president, chief operating officer, Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's, speaking on expansion of pediatrics.

“I think our new focus and emphasis on customer service, consumer focus, as well as the patient focus will hopefully result in better care for more people. Growth is part of our mission and we're living in a part of the country that's growing, so hopefully this will result in more people getting better care as we grow our system.” – Glen Couchman, M.D., chief medical officer, Clinical Operations, Baylor Scott & White Health, speaking on future growth

“My hope is that the legacy that Dr. Scott and Dr. White started 125 years ago, which is caring for the community, practicing the highest example of medical care that's possible, and doing it in a compassionate way, not only benefits people who are ill, but also prevents illness from occurring and brings this all together under a health system that really cares for the community – which is what, to me, living in Temple and being at Scott White is all about.” – Robert Pryor, M.D., president, chief executive officer, Baylor Scott & White Health (2011-2016) speaking on the future of Scott & White’s legacy

“Well, I often have thought about what Dr. Scott and White would think of where the institution is today. It would be startling,…but they were both innovators and they were both committed to healthcare, to taking care of folks that needed the help.” – Raleigh White IV, M.D., grandson of Scott & White founding member, Raleigh White II, M.D., on the Scott & White legacy
