PLANO, Texas – Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano1 has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association's Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification, becoming the first hospital in Collin County and the 21st in the U.S. to demonstrate the excellence required to achieve this prestigious certification.
The certification recognizes Baylor Scott & White Heart – Plano's commitment and success in implementing a high standard of care for patients with cardiovascular care.

Baylor Scott & White Heart – Plano underwent a rigorous, on-site review for the certification. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with certification standards, including effective integration of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement, and delivering and facilitating clinical care. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted on-site observations and interviews.

To achieve Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification, Baylor Scott & White Heart – Plano demonstrated the scope of care, treatment and services needed for management of cardiac conditions, including ischemic heart disease, cardiac valve disease, arrhythmias, advanced heart failure, cardiac arrest, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiovascular risk factor identification and disease prevention.
