Baylor Health Care System Research Sheds New Light On Heart Disease

Principal Investigator Raphael Schiffmann, MD, and his research team have discovered that patients with a higher level of a urinary lipid called Gb3 may be at greater risk for near-term death as a result of heart disease. Dr. Schiffmann is Director of Baylor Scott & White's Institute for Metabolic Disease, a part of Baylor Research Institute. His research was recently published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
