Leading Expert in Disease Prevention Speaking at Free Lecture in Dallas May 28

Dr. Mark Hyman shares approach for reaching “Optimal Health” at any age

One of the foremost experts in the field of functional medicine, Dr. Mark Hyman, will host a free lecture at the Dallas City Performance Hall on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 7 p.m. At Hyman’s lecture Creating Optimal Health: Your Journey Towards Well-Being Starts Here, he will address questions, like, “How do diet sodas make you fat?” and, “why does eating fat free make you fat and diabetic?”

This rare opportunity for the Dallas/Fort Worth community is being hosted by the Integrative Medicine Program at Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Dallas, the Crow Collection of Asian Art, the Institute for Functional Medicine, and the Dallas Yoga Center.

Mark Hyman, M.D. is a practicing physician, founder of The UltraWellness Center, a six-time New York Times bestselling author, and an international leader in the field of Functional Medicine. In addition, Hyman is currently medical contributor to the Katie Couric show, medical editor at the Huffington Post and on the Medical Advisory Board at The Doctor Oz Show.  Hyman is also currently serving as advisor on a documentary on childhood obesity with Laurie David and Katie Couric called Fed Up, coming out in late 2013 or early 2014.

Through his private practice, education efforts, writing, research, advocacy and public-policy work, he strives to improve access to Functional Medicine, and to widen the understanding and practice of it, empowering others to stop managing symptoms and instead treat the underlying causes of illness, thereby also tackling our chronic-disease epidemic.

Hyman discusses a whole systems approach for evaluation and treatment to help reverse the growing problem of “diabesity”—a range of conditions that includes obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other prevalent lifestyle-related illness that affect more than one billion people worldwide. He will also present his straight-forward approach that can ensure anyone, no matter what their state of health, can reach a higher state of “Optimum Health.”

Reservations are required to attend.  Mark Hyman will be signing copies of his most-recent best seller, The Blood Sugar Solution and The Blood Sugar Solution Cookbook, immediately following the lectureYou may pre-order your copy of by calling 214-979-6433.
