Founded in 1903 as a Christian ministry of healing, Baylor Health Care System  is now part of Baylor Scott & White Health. Formed from the 2013 merger between Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare, Baylor Scott & White Health is today the largest not-for-profit health care system in the state of Texas.

Baylor Research Institute (BRI) is patient focused, dedicated to basic science, clinical trials, health care effectiveness and quality of care research. The efforts of BRI’s investigators are:

  • Published in major scientific journals
  • Presented at international medical conferences and symposia
  • Awarded multi-million dollar grants from government agencies that support novel medical research
  • Elected to high office in national medical and research associations

– Our Physician Group –

HealthTexas Provider Network (HTPN) is a multi-specialty medical group that employs over 850 providers practicing in 250 care delivery sites in the North Texas area. This medical group practice is comprised of 70 primary care centers, 180 specialty care clinics which include 9 physiatric medicine centers; 8 hospitalist programs; 3 pulmonary critical care units; 9 liver outreach clinics; 5 heart failure outreach clinics; 1 kidney outreach clinic, 3 senior health centers; and a family practice residency program.

In FY14 HealthTexas reported more than 2.0 million patient visits per year. In 2010 HealthTexas was awarded AMGA’s Medical Group Preeminence Award. HealthTexas was named a American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Acclaim Award Honoree in 2011, 2012 and 2014, making them one of the leading medical groups in the nation.

– Our Medical Education –

Baylor is home to the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine (TAMHSC College
of Medicine) Clinical Training Program in Dallas. Students complete clinical rotations at Baylor Dallas in surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and medical electives.  Baylor Garland hosts a rotation in family medicine, while Baylor’s HealthTexas Provider Network offers rotations at their clinics located throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Annually, more than 200 interns, residents and fellows enroll in the training programs at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and 18 residents pursue the Baylor Family Medicine Residency Program at Baylor Medical Center at Garland.

Baylor Health Care System Foundation, a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, raises and manages charitable funds to support Baylor Health Care System and its charitable affiliates. Since the Foundation was established in 1978, it has distributed more than $500 million to Baylor. It is supported by more than 12,000 active donors, including individuals, corporations and other private foundations.
