Joining only 7 percent of hospitals nationwide, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest received a Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), becoming the eighth Baylor Scott & White Health facility to achieve this accomplishment.

This designation highlights a healthcare organization's commitment to implementing and sharing nursing best practices in clinical practice, innovation, structural empowerment and the patient care experience. The Magnet Recognition Program, developed by the ANCC in 1990 to highlight excellence in nursing services, recognizes efforts by nursing leaders who align strategic goals to improve patient outcomes.

According to ANCC, Magnet facilities are associated with higher patient satisfaction with nurse communication, availability of help and receipt of discharge information as well as lower risk of 30-day mortality. Baylor Scott & White– Hillcrest, joins seven Baylor Scott & White medical centers in North Texas with a Magnet designation and becomes the system's first Central Texas hospital with the designation. Currently, 482 of more than 6,000 healthcare organizations nationwide are designated Magnet, including 42 in Texas.
