Board of Trustees Honors Baylor CEO for 20 Years of Service

Faith in Action Initiatives Fund to be renamed to honor Joel T. Allison

Baylor Health Care System’s Board of Trustees announced Sept. 18 that the system’s Faith in Action Initiatives Fund will be renamed  to honor president and CEO Joel Allison for his 20 years of service to Baylor. The new Joel T. Allison Faith in Action Initiatives Fund will continue to support Baylor’s Office of Mission and Ministry’s work to provide resources and medical volunteers to organizations in need locally and abroad.

“Faith in Action Initiatives was created by Joel.  It is just another example of his dedication to carrying out Baylor’s mission as a Christian ministry of healing,” said Jim Turner, chairman of the Baylor Health Care System Board of Trustees. “I can’t think of a better way to honor his two decades of service to this organization.”

In addition, the Joel T. Allison Faith in Action Award was announced. The award will be given annually to an employee who, through his or her deeds, best exemplifies Joel T. Allison’s commitment to Baylor’s mission.

Baylor’s Faith in Action Initiatives mobilizes the Baylor Health Care System family and like-minded organizations to address the medical and spiritual needs of communities locally and throughout the world through education, missions, redirection of resources and disaster relief. To date, Baylor’s Faith in Action Initiatives have benefited people in need in more than 30 countries with hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical supplies and equipment. In addition, a Baylor Faith in Action Initiatives program titled Sacred Vocation enhances the spiritual roots of purpose and meaning for Baylor employees as they serve the needs of their patients and communities beyond Baylor. Faith in Action Initiatives also publishes daily inspiration articles for all Baylor employees and provides education, resources, and networking to faith community health ministries.
