BioNorth TX Hosts Second-Annual Life Science Summit

BSWH COO, Fort Worth and Arlington mayors to deliver keynotes at North Texas event

Organizers of the second-annual BioNorthTX iC3 Life Science Summit have announced the agenda for the 2016 day-long conference to take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the University of Texas at Arlington's College Park Center. As an industry-wide networking, education and business development conference, the Life Science Summit showcases the rich resources and technological innovations in North Texas and is expected to draw more than 400 investors, researchers and life science companies.

Following the conference's 2015 debut in Irving, this year's program tackles the topics of innovation, collaboration, capital formation and commercialization within the full-day agenda, which begins with registration, networking and breakfast at 7:30 a.m. After opening remarks by Vistasp Karbhari, PhD, president of UT Arlington, the conference features sessions, poster displays, awards, panels and more from the region's top health leaders. Leading the luncheon's keynote session is John McWhorter, chief operating officer at Baylor Scott & White Health.

New for this year is an afternoon plenary session regarding the growth of North Texas' life science industry, featuring Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price and Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and moderated by Jorge Varela of TECH Fort Worth.

Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI) is a founding member of BioNorthTX, which is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(6) trade association that seeks to highlight the region's successes and assets in the life sciences. One of the goals of the summit is to bring together industry parties and educate businesses about North Texas' potential to become a leader in bioscience innovation.
